Sewing kits were an important and somewhat unique resource as it had a singular purpose of upgrading clothing. Every clothing upgrade required one sewing kit. Nothing else used or required it.
Sewing kits were discontinued on 16 March 2018 (V1.18) after a revamp of the game's economic model (though not yet removed),[1] and removed in V1.23 where anyone with remaining sewing kits earned 3 reputation for each one. There was a bug after sewing kits were discontinued were upgrade kits still gave sewing kits when salvaged; this was fixed after they were completely removed.

The main way to earn sewing kits was by salvaging Sewing equipment, which could only be obtained through leveling up. They could also be obtained through making via the Research workshop and from salvaging upgrade kits.
